Installing Printers on Mac for Students

Prelude

This page will help you install the printers that you will need as a student on your Mac or MacBook. For additional assistance or any questions, call or visit the Help Desk.

Part 1: Printer Installation

  1. Go to byulaw.printercloud.com using a Chrome Browser. Do not use Safari.

  2. The website will prompt you to install a browser extension. Install it.

  3. Return to the PrinterLogic page, and refresh it.

  4. Next, it should prompt you to install a client. Click Install to download the installer.

  5. Double click the package that was just downloaded and follow all install prompts.

  6. Once installed, there should be a new icon in your menu bar.

  7. Refresh the PrinterLogic page again and select to login with your BYU Law School account. You will then be prompted for a security code. It is 74d27t1x. You only need to put this in once. After you put this in, then you can continue the login process.

  8. In the top right of your browser window, if you click on the account icon, it should show your netID. If it does not, sign out and log back in through your BYU Law Login.

    1.

    2. From this website, you will be able to see how many pages you have left when you click Menu in the and then View Quota Status.

  9. Now, you will also need to login to the PrinterLogic client. To do this, select the printer icon in the Menubar.

  10. Click it, and choose to Login with IdP.

    1. If you do not see this as an option, click to refresh your configurations, wait until the pop up window shows up and goes away, and then try again.

  11. Once you click it, a new tab should open in a browser and open the BYU Law Login (Okta) screen.

  12. Sign in. When you sign in, all of the Co-Op printers should automatically be installed. You may check to see if they’ve been installed by going to System PreferencesPrinters and Scanners.

It may take up to 5 minutes for printers to install.

Part 2: Setting up Cover Pages

Cover pages will help you identify your print jobs and reduce confusion at peak points in the semester. We may recycle print jobs that do not have a cover page and have been abandoned.

You will need to repeat these steps for each printer that you want to print a cover page.

  1. Open any file to print. We suggest a single blank page.

2. Click on More settings and then Print using system dialog…

3. Make sure that the printer at the top is the Co-Op Printer that you want to print your cover pages on. Click on Layout about halfway down the window and then select Cover Page.

4. Select to put the Cover page before the document.

5. Click on the Presets: option. It will most likely say Default Settings. When you select it, choose to Save Current Settings as Preset… You can either assign it to be just this printer or you can have it go to every printer that you have. Either setting works based off of your needs. If you choose to do just this printer than you can repeat steps 6-10 for any other printer that you want to add a cover page to.

The printer you selected will now print cover pages for your print jobs. Repeat these steps for each printer you wish to print cover pages with.
